Grandparents Helping Grandfamilies

Mission: Support Grandparents and Kinship families in our community who may struggle with raising their grandchildren or relative’s child and improve social, emotional, educational, and life outcomes for the children.

Purpose: Many Grandparents and Kinship parents in our community have become primary caretakers of their grandchildren or relative’s children as a result of a myriad of reasons:

• Abuse and neglect of the children

• Substance abuse or severe mental health issues

• Parental loss of custody due to homelessness, instability or incarceration

• Parental deaths and disability

Ways You Can Help

Hand in Hand Program – Provide Emotional Support & Volunteer Services (mentoring and coaching) for Grandparents or Kinship Parents. 

Tutoring – Volunteering in the Youth Pulse Educational Program.

Sponsorship activities – Cultural Enrichment, sports, wellness, & holiday events. 

Financial/Material Assistance – Supplemental funds/stipends for child care, after school care, transportation, clothes, car and booster seats, formula, diapers, and school supplies for the children.

Social Media Assistance -assistance with webpage and Facebook

Community and Special Projects - help with family activities and vendor fairs

Volunteers must have background checks for screening, i.e. Child Protective Services and criminal background for direct access to family and children.  Volunteers receive orientation and training prior to assignment to a support situation.
