Education and Support Opportunities

KinCare Education Series

Participate in this eight- week educational series on pertinent topics for kinship families.
Presentation topics include:

- Understanding the new normal - navigating the changes in family dynamics
- Parenting a child who experienced trauma and the impact of trauma on the family
- Parenting skills in the 21st Century and positive family communication
- Helping kinship children adjust to the challenges
- Social media and internet safety
- Self-care for both the adults and the children
- Legal issues - understanding court, custody, and other legal issues
- Navigating the school system - homework, virtual learning, IEP and 504 plans, parent-teacher communication
- Resources – private and government
- Substance abuse and Addiction- the impact on the entire family

The KinCare Education series is offered both in evening sessions and daytime sessions. All sessions last for two hours. Evening sessions are from 7 pm to 9 pm. Day time sessions are from 10 am to noon or 1 pm - 3 pm. Sessions are currently held virtually.
Participants are provided handouts for each session. A certificate of completion is provided at the end of the educational series.

We are currently meeting virtually. Join us Wednesday evenings at 8 pm to participate. We also have a 3rd Monday virtual support group from 1 pm - 2:30 pm.
